careful consideration of the plethora of backpacks available for my trip
as well as consulting with several experts, I chose this Glacier model

addition, I obtained a custom duffle bag for this product as well to allow

Sierra Designs Orion
Tent
One
of my greatest considerations in preparing for my trip was keeping the
overall weight of my equipment down. That, in addition to the excellent
reputation of Sierra
Designs is why I will be sleeping under the stars in my Orion tent.

As you can imagine, when one owns
expensive equipment, insuring the same is a must. Shortly after
purchasing my laptop, I was told of a great company called Safeware
that would insure my equipment against accidental damage or theft.
Now, when I travel, I have the peace of mind knowing that if something
were to happen...

HP Pavilion N3290

The very first computer I ever purchased was a Hewlett
Packard Pavilion Desktop. So, when I was considering a
laptop computer, I knew instantly that I would also choose an
HP brand as well. This model has approximately a 6 giga byte
hard-drive, a 500 mhz processor, and a very, very large screen.
Using a voice recognition software program to dictate all my journal
entries, a good quality laptop is essential - which is why I recommend HP.

Nikon Coolpix 990

After waiting a month for my Nikon
Coolpix 990 Digital Camera on backorder, it is no wonder
why. This camera is the hottest consumer model available
and for good reason. I will use this throughout the trip to take
photos and movies of the various locales I visit. I obtained a small
card which will store the photos (over 300) in individual folders for
downloading into my laptop.

Unity Digital Pro
Power Pack
When
I was considering purchasing my digital camera, everyone warned me about
it eating AA batteries alive! Then this rechargeable power source
from Unity Digital fell into my
lap. This awesome product charges up to 1000 times and will allow me
to keep taking pictures for hours! Nice thing is, it fits right on
my pant's belt. Buy one!

OlympusŪ DS-150
Digital Voice Recorder
The thought of arriving in an exciting new city each
evening and typing entries into my journal each night sounded like quite a chore. That is
why I purchased a mobile voice recognition software package from L&H
Voice Express. All I need to do is dictate my journal entries,
then upload them to the web site, and you guessed it - hit the town!

Bogen Tripod

This tripod I purchased from a company called Bogen
is of the highest quality and the preferred choice amongst professional in
the photography and film industry. The detachable head had levels on
both sides allowing for a perfect compilation of shots necessary for the
360° panoramic shots throughout the web site. I wouldn't suggest
anything other than a Bogen.

Targus European Adapter Set
Of course my laptop and other equipment would be useless if I had no
way of converting the various power sources in Europe as well as charging
my battery for use on the road. This 12 piece adapter set developed
by Targus is easily used in just about
any European country you may travel in.

Targus Car Adapter/Charger

Shortly after I purchased my laptop,
I realized I could purchase a car adapter/charger kit from Targus
which would allow me to use and charge my laptop for my voice recognition
program and other needs while driving down the road. Plugging into any car
cigarette lighter, plug it in, and off you go!
